Introduction:

1,4-Dihydroxyanthraquinone is an orange-red crystalline solid at room temperature and pressure, and has a certain solubility in water. It has a large conjugated π system in its structure, has significant luminescent properties, and its acidity is stronger than that of the isomer 1,5-dihydroxyanthraquinone. It is precipitated from acetic acid as orange crystals. It is red when dissolved in ethanol in appropriate amounts, brown and yellow fluorescence when dissolved in ethe, and purple when dissolved in caustic soda and ammonia.

Uses:

This product is an important dye intermediate. It is disperse brown GL (C.I.58050). It is used to make disperse blue HSR, disperse blue 5R, disperse blue B, disperse dark blue RB, acid anthraquinone blue R, weak acid brilliant blue RAW weak acid green GS, reduced gray BG, reduced brown BR, etc. It can also be used to produce the intermediate 1,4-diaminoanthraquinone. 1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid can be obtained by sulfonation of 1,4-dihydroxyquinone.
